Autumn is upon us – kids are going back to school, the leaves are turning, and vacations are ending. Americans were able to travel a little bit more recently as the country opened up. International travel has decreased significantly, but many people hit the road for their vacations, eager for a change in scenery after being stuck inside.

Whether you’re currently experiencing the post-travel blues, or you haven’t had a chance to get away yet, reading can actually fulfil your need for a getaway. Heather Jackson, an avid reader, often escapes to distant lands in the pages of a good book – whether that’s through fiction or non-fiction. Reading ignites the imagination and is a fantastic mental health tool when you need an escape, but can’t physically take a vacation.

If there is a country, city, or state that you’ve always wanted to visit, or are longing to return to, just search for books that are based in that location. Books can be a great way to get some context and history for a place you’re going to visit!
